Cala Villas is a project composed of two adjacent beachfront homes. Although the site faces the ocean, a natural sand dune obstructs direct views of the sea from ground level. We decided to embrace this condition—turning the dune itself into the project’s central concept. It became the defining element that gives each villa a distinct atmosphere and spatial experience, even as both share the same architectural language, materials, and aesthetic.

One villa rises above the dune, seemingly floating to embrace the horizon and the vastness of the ocean. The other sits humbly at ground level, allowing the dune to “hug” the structure—protecting it, grounding it, and giving it a more introspective character. In this lower villa, a large reflective pool extends through the interior, mirroring the ocean beyond and bringing the sensation of the beach inward.

Although the two homes are architecturally identical, their experiences are completely different—one open and elevated, the other intimate and sheltered. The design follows a tropical brutalist approach: raw, strong, and enduring, yet deeply connected to its natural surroundings. The result is a timeless composition that feels both eternal and alive, where concrete meets sand, jungle, and sea in a seamless dialogue.
